Advanced Recreational Trimix (Helitrox)

Also known as Helitrox Diver, the course examines the theory, methods, and procedures for planning staged decompression dives utilizing helium in the breathing mixture to reduce the effects of inert gas narcosis. The Course trains divers how to plan and conduct staged decompression dives to a maximum depth of 170 feet/51.8 metres. The most common equipment requirements, gear set-up, and decompression techniques are also presented during this course. The course is usually taught as a combined course with Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures but is designed to be delivered as a stand alone course as well.

Who this course is for:
This Program is designed for divers wishing to extend both their range and bottom time through the use of Hyperoxic (Helitrox) gas mixtures staged decompression using EANx.

How deep can you dive with the IANTD Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver?

No dives may be conducted to depths greater than 170fsw.

What do you need to enroll in this program?

  • Open Circuit
    • Must be a qualified IANTD Deep Diver or equivalent.
    • Must be a qualified IANTD EANx Diver or equivalent.
    • Must be a minimum of 15 years old.
    • Proof of a minimum of 30 logged dives or sufficient experience to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training.
  • Rebreather
    • By The Bay does not offer rebreather training

What this program must include?

  • Academic Sessions
  • Confined Water Sessions
  • Open Water Sessions

Course length: Advanced Recreational Trimix is more of a mentorship program and as such course length may vary depending on the student. There is usually a minimum of 4 to six classroom sessions, two (2) pool or confined water sessions and four (4) open water Dives
